On its recently released, self-titled record, Slow
Cheetah unites the
song structure and timbre of early Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson
with
the southern homemade feel of Wilco and Sparklehorse. Encompassing
the
sparse twang of a lonely pedal steel guitar and the musical hum
of
Fender guitars, this record is a tribute to the quirks and
idiosyncracies of many artists from California and the South who
created
roots-pop music emcompassing intelligently crafted songwriting
and
subtle hooks. The songs on "Slow Cheetah" were written
and recorded to
incorporate as much nuance as possible while remaining accessible
enough
to stick in the listeners head. Read more...
